ACLPO candidates making the news

Allen County Libertarian Party of OhioLocal Libertarians continue to earn coverage from area news media along the campaign trail.

Both The Lima News and WLIO covered the candidates forum hosted by the Allen County Ohio Patriots at their monthly meeting on February 9. The two elections for County Commissioner seats are the only ones in Allen County which will have contested primaries (Republican in both races) this year.

The local Tea Party group invited all seven candidates whose names will appear on primary ballots, including Democrat Connie Miller and Libertarian Don Kissick.

For Kissick, who also chairs the Allen County Libertarian Party of Ohio and ran for Congress in 2010, the Tea Party function was the first of what will be three campaign appearances. Coming-up on Wednesday, February 15, he will be on the air courtesy of 940 AM WCIT as a guest on “Talk with Ron Williams,” with his segment beginning 3:36 p.m.

Much like with the Patriots group, WCIT is inviting each commissioner candidate to join Williams for a 20-minute live segment to engage listeners. According to Maverick Media Producer Rick Burgei, the station is exploring sending similar invitations to candidates for General Assembly and Congress — which would open the door for Libertarians Paul D. Hinds and Chris Kalla to enjoy a share of air time.

On February 23, just 12 days before the primary, Kissick will participate in a debate for commissioner candidates being organized by the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce. The forum runs 5:30-7:30 in the 3rd floor ballroom of The City Club located at 144 S. Main St. in Lima.

The Allen County Libertarian Party of Ohio will keep you posted on all the latest and upcoming candidate events.
