County Commissioner race in the news

Media CoverageWith less than two weeks before the 2012 Ohio Primary, scrutiny being directed at the races for the two Allen County Commissioner seats up for grabs this year is intensifying.

As a result, even candidates who do not face a contested primary are garnering attention – as well as opportunities to appear before the public. This includes our own Don Kissick, ACLPO Chair and candidate for the commissioner seat presently held by Sam Bassitt.

On the radio dial, Don was joined on December 28 by ACLPO Treasurer Paul D. Hinds to discuss the (then upcoming) 2012 election year during “Talk with Ron Williams” on Lima’s 940 AM, WCIT. Paul will be running for the State Senate District 12 seat currently occupied by Keith Faber.

All seven candidates were invited to, one-by-one, convince WCIT’s listeners of their qualifications for the respective seat they are pursuing. Don’s appearance began at the :36 mark of the first hour of the Wednesday, February 15 broadcast.

Eight days later, it was time for the all-inclusive debate, with the candidates enjoying 10 minutes to engage Ron Williams’ listeners before the actual forum. (Don’s appearance begins at the :36 mark of Hour 2 for the February 23 broadcast and the podcasts for the debate can be found under its own heading of WCIT’s Audio Archives)

Limaland’s television operation, WLIO/WOHL, covered the debate as well as The Lima News, the forum being hosted by the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the League of Women Voters.

Undoubtedly, more news will come. The primary is right around the corner and the results, of course, will make the news. We are participating in the upcoming Irish Day Parade in Lima on March 10. After the primary results are certified, the Libertarian Party of Ohio state convention starts the end of March, and at our April meeting it will be time to hold officer elections for the Central and Executive committees.
